Beck’s Beer / Beck’s Brewery, also known as Brauerei Beck & Co., is a brewery in the northern German city of Bremen. In 2001, Interbrew bought Brauerei Beck for 1.8 billion euros; at that time it was the fourth-largest brewer in Germany. US manufacture of Beck’s has been based in St. Louis, Missouri, since early 2012.
Since 2008, it has been owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV subsidiary Interbrew.
Beck’s key logo is based upon the city of Bremen‘s coat of arms, which contains a key attributed to the patron saint of the city, Saint Peter.
The brewery sponsored Jaguar in Formula 1 until 2004.
Beck’s Beer, the world’s No. 1 German beer, is known for uncompromising quality in over 85 countries. Beck’s has been brewed with only four ingredients for almost 140 years, in compliance with the famed German Purity Law. Beck’s Pilsner was founded in 1873 on the banks of the Weser in the free Hanseatic city of Bremen by Heinrich Beck. A free and open philosophy remains at the heart of Beck’s today, as seen by its continuous support of urban graffiti art in Miami, offlocation parties in Berlin, and independent artists in Milan.
Beck’s Beer Taste
The color is golden, and the aroma is distinct. Hops and malt are abundant. Characteristic, powerful bitterness, and a dry, clear aftertaste. An pleasant hoppy aftertaste.
Beck’s Beer Ingredient Highlights
Malted barley, Hallertau (Bavaria) hops, fresh brewing water, and Beck’s yeast strain
Heinrich Beck started Beck’s on the banks of the Weser in Bremen, Germany, in 1873, and the brewery is still in operation today. Heinrich Beck was a trailblazer, eschewing the native market in favor of conquering the world. That dream has come true, as Beck’s is now the world’s most popular German Beer.
Did you know that?
Due to a lack of brown glass in the early years, creator Heinrich Beck chose green glass, making Beck’s one of the world’s first beers in a green bottle.
